Amara became an end-of-life doula after supporting her grandmother through a home hospice journey in 2011. That experience showed her how much families struggle with planning when they lack clear information, and she has spent the years since working to change that. She trained with INELDA and completed additional certification in advance care planning, going on to support over 200 families through the dying process. Amara writes about green burial, aquamation, advance directives, and honoring cultural traditions in end-of-life care. She is based in Atlanta and volunteers with her local hospice network.
David's career in bereavement services started in 2009 when he began volunteering at a grief support center while working as a paralegal in estate law. He saw firsthand how many families were overwhelmed by the administrative burden that follows a death -- closing accounts, navigating probate, managing digital assets -- and decided to bridge that gap professionally. He earned his Certified Bereavement Counselor credential and now focuses on helping families manage both the emotional and logistical sides of loss. David writes about estate settlement, bereavement leave policies, body donation programs, and digital legacy planning. He is based in Portland, Oregon.
Julian grew up around funeral service -- his grandfather opened a family funeral home in San Antonio in 1972, and Julian is the third generation to hold a funeral director's license. After earning his mortuary science degree and completing his apprenticeship, he spent 15 years managing day-to-day funeral home operations before shifting his focus to consumer education and pre-planning. Julian writes about funeral costs, cremation options, FTC funeral rule compliance, and what families should know before walking into a funeral home. He is a member of the NFDA and has spoken at regional funeral service conferences on pricing transparency.
Sarah spent 8 years in financial services before narrowing her focus to final expense planning after watching a close friend's family face unexpected funeral costs with no plan in place. She holds a CFES designation and is a licensed financial planner, and she has helped hundreds of families understand their options for prepaid plans, burial insurance, and estate cost management. Sarah writes about funeral costs, international pricing comparisons, and how to evaluate financial products marketed to seniors. She is based in Chicago and serves on the advisory board of a regional consumer advocacy group for funeral pricing transparency.
